Job Summary

The ODOT Cultural Resources Program Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering the statewide cultural resources program. This includes leadership of a team of professionals, establishing standards and procedures, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide statewide planning, guidance, and leadership for cultural resource program staff, ODOT Field Districts, and ODOT Central Office.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Develop, interpret, and/or implement policies, standards, and procedures relating to cultural resource programs.
  • Manage and oversee the staff of the Cultural Resources Program, providing guidance, training, and coaching.
  • Develop and maintain standards, policies, procedures, and staffing requirements needed to execute programs.
  • Provide assistance to ODOT Field Districts and Central Office pertaining to cultural resources issues in the context of development and implementation of transportation projects and statewide programs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree AND 36 months related research experience, including supervision.
  • Experience in research, writing, teaching, interpretation, or other demonstrable professional activity consistent with regulatory compliance with a state or federal agency, an academic institution, or a historic organization with responsibilities in cultural resource management.
  • Experience in project coordination and the ability to manage a heavy project load with dynamic schedules.
  • Personnel and task management experience and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Thorough and demonstrated knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 4(f) of the USDOT Act, and implementation of these regulations within a larger environmental compliance framework.
