Job Title: Tax Director - Real Estate/Construction

Marcum LLP is seeking a highly skilled Tax Director to join our growing and well-established national firm in Costa Mesa. As a Tax Director, you will be responsible for leading our Tax Real Estate/Construction practice and providing expert tax guidance to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply technical skills to perform effective reviews of all types of tax returns, ensuring relevant issues are identified and resolved, and planning opportunities are explored.
  • Handle compliance engagements, from scheduling to managing staff, and perform research and draft memoranda on real estate and construction-related issues.
  • Train and supervise staff, review and evaluate their work, and make suggestions to improve efficiencies within the department and on engagements.
  • Interact closely with clients to provide innovative individual and corporate tax planning, consulting, and compliance services in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide proper representation with taxing authorities for clients under federal or state examination.
  • Supervise, develop, train, and mentor staff, including performance and engagement reviews, and be involved in practice development efforts of the firm.
Qualifications:
  • Masters in Taxation is preferred.
  • CPA license is required.
  • 7 or more years of Public Accounting Experience with a Real Estate or Construction emphasis.
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and writing skills) and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, Managers, and Partners.
  • Good judgement and the ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding work ethic, willing to roll up sleeves work attitude.
  • Possess strong writing skills for responding to problem resolutions for tax notices.
  • Ability to both review engagements and manage multiple clients.
  • Knowledge of S Corporation, partnership, and individual taxation a plus.
  • Knowledge of CCH Axcess, GoFileRoom, CCH ProSystem fx Engagement a plus.
