Law School Admissions Officer, Duke School of Law

Job Summary:
The Admissions Officer will be part of the team responsible for recruiting prospective students and reviewing applications for admission to Duke Law School. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who wants to begin a career in admissions, engage with people, and has a passion for encouraging diverse representation in the legal profession.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze qualifications of prospective students utilizing established law school admissions standards, guidelines and criteria, and reviewing with supervisor.
- Counsel prospective students, applicants, and others seeking information on admissions standards, academic programs, student life, and career opportunities.
- Travel extensively to represent Duke Law School at college law fairs and Law School Forums.
- Host online information sessions for applicants, providing an engaging overview of opportunities at Duke Law and the application process.
- Conduct online scholarship interviews of admitted students and submit written evaluations following a standard rubric.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with student organizations, prelaw advisors, faculty, and student affairs personnel affiliated with historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), and other undergraduate institutions that may serve as feeders for law students of color.
Requirements:
- Work generally requires a knowledge and understanding of college experience and student life obtained through the attainment of a bachelor's degree.
- Experience in admissions, recruitment, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and strength in written and oral communication are essential.
