Position Overview

The Clinical Transplant Nursing Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing the organ transplant team while ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the functions of a clinical transplant coordinator and manage the transplant nursing staff.
  • Recruit, mentor, assess, and organize staff schedules.
  • Enforce transplant-related and administrative protocols and guidelines.

Educational Requirements:

  • Mandatory: Diploma in nursing.
  • Desirable: Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of three years in a relevant nursing role.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Mandatory: Valid registered nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Desirable: Certification as a Clinical Transplant Coordinator from the American Board of Transplant Coordinators (ABTC).

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in utilizing computer systems, software applications, and online platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility to accommodate various work schedules, including weekends and on-call duties.

Job Duties Include:

  • Conduct pre-transplant clinical evaluations.
  • Engage in clinical responsibilities such as patient rounds, direct care, and analysis of lab/test results.
  • Manage post-transplant care and follow-up activities.
  • Provide education to patients and healthcare colleagues regarding transplant processes.
  • Serve as a consultant and resource for transplant team members, fostering professional development.
  • Supervise, train, and enhance the skills of department personnel.
  • Adapt care approaches to meet the needs of specific patient demographics.
  • Perform additional related responsibilities as necessary.
