Position Summary:
The Child Transportation Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children during transit. This position requires a proactive individual who can maintain order and assist children as they board and disembark from the vehicle. The ideal candidate must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and must be prepared to respond to emergencies effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn to operate and utilize various office equipment efficiently.
- Maintain an updated emergency contact list and daily attendance for children on the vehicle.
- Contribute to the cleanliness and organization of the transportation vehicle.
- Familiarize oneself with local streets and designated transportation routes.
- Communicate any changes regarding families to the appropriate supervisor.
- Notify parents about any alterations in program schedules (e.g., transportation times, training days).
- Document and report any incidents related to transportation to the supervisor for necessary action.
- Provide assistance in classrooms or during parent engagement activities as required.
- Support various educational initiatives as directed by the supervisor.
- Encourage participation in school readiness and parent involvement activities.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage a large group of young children in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate manner.
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a minimum of a high school diploma.
- Have a solid understanding of child development and behavior.
- Ability to effectively supervise a large group of young children.
- Knowledge of transportation safety protocols is essential.
- Exhibit the capability to adhere to all safety regulations, including emergency evacuation procedures.
- Must be able to follow directions and complete tasks with minimal oversight.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with parents, children, and colleagues.
- Reliability and punctuality are critical.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish is required, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Provide documented proof of a current physical examination, negative TB test, and MMR immunity (Hepatitis B immunity is recommended).
- Obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
- Pass a comprehensive background check prior to employment.
- Complete fingerprinting within the first month of employment.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including underserved communities, to support the organization's mission of inclusivity and equity.
Supervisory Role: None
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel for training and site visits may be necessary.
Physical Requirements: This role is physically demanding, requiring the employee to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the day. Frequent lifting and moving of items over 50 pounds is expected.
Work Environment: This position operates within a professional setting and utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
