Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform microscopic examination of cellular specimens to identify and screen for evidence of morphologic changes.
  • Analyze and classify cellular constituents in accordance with established criteria.
  • Identify questionable cellular configurations and review patient clinical history to establish preliminary interpretation of abnormal morphological features.
  • Prepare final reports of gynecological cytology specimens and present abnormal specimens to pathologists for evaluative diagnosis.
  • Perform cytopreparatory techniques, staining, and cover slipping procedures to ensure established techniques are utilized.
  • Assist supervisor with training and orientation of new employees and medical staff.
  • Develop new procedures and techniques as requested and maintain a procedures manual.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
  • Three years' technical experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
