Direct Service Professional

Job Summary:
The Direct Service Professional - Lead Staff reports to the Program Director and is responsible for providing direct care services to assist residents in achieving their treatment goals, under the direct supervision of the Program Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the accomplishment of the treatment plan for residents, under the supervision of the Program Director.
- Maintain accurate case recording documentation as per agency and contract guidelines.
- Transport patients to medical appointments and laboratories for tests.
- Ensure compliance with Title 17 and Title 22 Regulations.
- Schedule and lead direct care staff to ensure tasks and duties are completed.
- Conduct daily living skills sessions and re-socialization activity groups as specified in individual treatment plans.
- Administer resident medication.
- Attend staff meetings, including weekly supervision meetings with the Program Director.
- Participate in job-related conferences and in-service trainings.
- Contribute to individual and group treatment programs for residents.
- Motivate residents to develop self-reliance in daily living.
- Monitor patient physical condition and behavior, reporting significant changes to the Program Director.
- Respond to emergency health situations in an appropriate manner.
Requirements:
- High School diploma plus 18 college units in a social service, healthcare, education, or similar field.
- One year prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- One of the following: Registered Behavior Technician, licensed psychiatric technician, or Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.
- Meet the minimum age of 21 pursuant to California Health & Safety Code Section 1562.
- Effective communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Ability to write progress reports for treatment documentation.
- Complete RBT Training and certification within 60 days of employment.
- Complete DSP Year one within 6 months of employment and Year 2 within 1 year of employment.
- Certified training in CPR/First Aid procedures prior to providing direct client care.
- Work effectively with diverse groups.
- Understand and apply principles and techniques involved in the care and treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Recognize contraindications, side effects, and signs of medication complications.
- Analyze potentially dangerous situations accurately.
- Provide input to the Program Director and/or QBMP on treatment programs.
- Understand and follow written and oral directions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office and other communication platforms.
- Possess a valid driver's license and access to a dependable means of transportation.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment physical, drug screen, and TB test.
