Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

As a Residential Support Advocate at Project Woman of Ohio, you will play a crucial role in delivering assistance and advocacy for individuals experiencing domestic violence and their families within our emergency shelter. Your responsibilities will encompass aiding residents with their daily requirements, performing safety checks, and leading shelter activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver trauma-informed care, including advocacy, crisis management, safety planning, and resource referrals for survivors.
  • Support the daily living needs of shelter residents and conduct orientation sessions.
  • Facilitate intake and exit processes, encourage resident engagement, and foster a supportive living atmosphere.
  • Exemplify non-violent conflict resolution techniques and manage emergency scenarios effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality in line with organizational policies.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Engage in effective communication with colleagues and document daily activities.
  • Oversee the shelter office environment, address urgent facility concerns, and assist with emergency evacuations.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and fulfill other assigned responsibilities.

  • Operate within a secured residential facility, navigate stairs, and manage supplies.
  • Monitor activities, respond to emergencies, and work varied shifts.
  • High-pressure role necessitating emotional regulation and self-care practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in human services or equivalent experience.
  • Background in residential settings, working with trauma survivors, and crisis intervention is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and familiarity with domestic violence issues is advantageous.
