About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiothoracic Surgery Specialist to join our team at PennState Health. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute their expertise and passion to delivering exceptional patient care.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing surgical assistance as well as pre and postoperative patient care, including test interpretation and patient referral under the supervision of the surgeon. A strong background in cardiac surgery and proficiency in performing endovascular vein harvest is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Provide high-quality surgical assistance during cardiothoracic surgeries.
  • Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to address specific patient needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless transitions and optimal outcomes.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current certification as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record of working in a fast-paced cardiothoracic surgery environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
