Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist II to join our team. The successful candidate will participate in specialized and complex technical tasks involved in screening and evaluating slides of cytologic specimens for the detection of cancer and/or other pathologic conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides for the presence or absence of disease.
  • Provide differential diagnoses and discuss cytologic criteria.
  • Accurately record diagnoses on the computer.
  • Submit appropriate slides to the pathologist for review.
  • Review patient history related to diagnoses.
  • Review specimen requisition/slide for completeness and accuracy of labeling.
  • Participate in semi-annual CLIA diagnostic review with manager and medical director.
  • Recognize cytologic issues of concern and address with appropriate CT staff member.
  • Help in the cytology preparation area as necessary.
  • Regularly participate in CE activities.
  • Identify cases for educational resources and share them with the Teaching Coordinator.
  • Participate in workshops, scientific papers, and posters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in cytology or related field or a Bachelor of Arts degree with 24 semester hours of required science coursework.
  • Successful completion of a CAHEA accredited cytology program.
  • Masters preferred.
  • BS/BA CT(ASCP) certification or eligible or equivalent.
  • Passing the board certification examination is a condition of continued employment.

The Cytotechnologist II will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with a team of experienced professionals. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
