Position Overview
Ramboll US Consulting, Inc. is a leading scientific environmental consulting firm that offers a wide array of technical services to both public and private sector clients. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Senior Managing Consultant or Managing Consultant, specializing in land use permitting within our site solutions group, which focuses on investigation and remediation.
This role encompasses the comprehensive management of land use permitting processes, including:
- Overseeing field surveys and wetland assessments
- Evaluating permit applicability and preparing necessary applications
- Developing environmental impact statements and permitting plans
- Facilitating client and agency meetings
- Creating required permitting reports for diverse projects, including brownfields redevelopment and site remediation
Additionally, you will support and implement site characterization and remedial action projects that address potential human and ecological risks associated with contaminants in various environmental media.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of permitting documents in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, particularly those of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
- Conduct and lead meetings with clients and agencies regarding land use permitting and remediation activities.
- Perform remedial and permitting alternatives analyses.
- Manage field surveys and wetland assessments, ensuring timely preparation of deliverables.
- Develop both remedial and permitting site plans.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and other written communications.
- Build and maintain client relationships, including the preparation of project budgets and proposals.
- Guide junior to mid-level staff in developing their skills in site investigation, characterization, and land use permitting.
- Assist in regulatory negotiations and the evaluation of technical documents.
Your Path to Growth

- A BS/MS in engineering, environmental science, biology, natural resources, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in land use permitting in New Jersey, with a strong background in site investigation and remediation.
- Familiarity with NJDEP Site Remediation Program, PADEP Division of Site Remediation, and/or PADEP Land Recycling Program.
- Experience with NJDEP Division of Land Resource Protection and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
- Exceptional technical writing, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including budget and proposal preparation.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
- Wetland Delineation Certification is a plus but not mandatory.
