About the Position

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Cyber and Innovation Programs. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge cybersecurity and innovation programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of cybersecurity and innovation programs, including the creation and management of a cybersecurity clinic.
  • Work closely with George Mason University officials to establish the clinic and recruit faculty to teach cybersecurity courses.
  • Identify and engage with cyber and tech experts to expand opportunities for professional development and mentorship for students.
  • Recruit students for the cybersecurity clinic and identify community client partners to be served by the clinic.
  • Develop and manage fundraising efforts to sustain academic cyber and innovation programs.
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports and evaluate employee performance.
  • Collaborate with NSI's group of national security, foreign policy, and cyber and tech experts to develop cyber and innovation programming.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Considerable experience in policy, particularly cybersecurity and technology policy.
  • Professional experience in cybersecurity and/or national security and/or higher education.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Strong relationship builder and communicator with a multitude of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to interact with persons at all levels, including high-level government officials and academics, in a professional manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Superior skills with Microsoft Office suite and strong database skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field or Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Progressive management experience, including managing programs, projects, and staff.
  • Previous public policy experience, including engaging in policy advocacy with Congressional or Executive branch officials.
  • Previous experience managing organizational budgets and supporting fundraising efforts.
