This role is crucial in managing emergency situations, delivering proficient emergency and non-emergency medical services across various domains, including emergency medical operations, rescue missions, basic medical support, training, quality enhancement, public education, and recruitment efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver basic life support to patients at emergency scenes and during transport, adhering to all applicable laws and protocols.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely while responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls as directed.
- Engage in continuous education to stay updated with emergency medical service practices.
- Assist in the rescue and extraction of individuals in distress using appropriate medical and rescue techniques.
- Communicate effectively with medical personnel and facilities to coordinate patient care and treatment.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency calls, ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to ensure readiness for emergency response.
- Document incidents and equipment issues accurately and report them to supervisors.
- Follow safety protocols regarding contamination and patient care.
- Participate in required meetings and maintain confidentiality of all patient and operational matters.
- Perform general maintenance tasks at the station as assigned.
- Exhibit professionalism and adhere to the organization's values in all interactions.
- Document all service reports in compliance with local and state regulations.
- Maintain and restock medical equipment and supplies as necessary.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and assist in training new staff.
- Participate in ongoing education and skill enhancement programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of EMT-B training and certification in the relevant state.
- Maintain continuing education requirements for certification.
- Possess Emergency Vehicle Operator certification.
- Must be at least 23 years old to operate emergency vehicles.
- Valid state driver's license required.
- Participate in a minimum of six educational programs annually.
- Complete annual skills assessments as per company guidelines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to assess situations and implement problem-solving strategies.
