Job Summary

The University of Oregon is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Alternative Format and Accessible Technology Coordinator in the Accessible Education Center. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that students with disabilities have access to the resources and accommodations they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee alternative format services, including planning, preparing, and performing the conversion of required academic materials into alternate formats for students with print-based disabilities.
  • Resolve alternate format issues within the Accessible Education Center using defined policies, practices, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate accessible technology for students with disabilities, including providing one-on-one user support and evaluating and recommending effective technology tools and accommodations.
  • Engage in collaboration and outreach to facilitate campus awareness of related universal design strategies and considerations.
  • Supervise student employees and work independently, demonstrating sound judgment and creative problem-solving.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of education and experience.
  • Two years of part- or full-time experience related to alternative format and accessible technology management.
  • Strong commitment to access/inclusion and Universal Design principles.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex and difficult accessibility challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Five years' progressively responsible experience related to alternative format and accessible technology management.
  • Experience using tools to test for and remediate accessibility barriers in web, mobile, and native applications.
