About the Position

The Department of Defense is seeking a highly skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team in the Mental Health Department. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to patients with severe mental health problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients with a variety of severe mental health problems, including observing, recording, and reporting changes in their behavior.
  • Obtain physical, psychosocial, or functional needs data to complete the patient assessment.
  • Obtain patient records to prepare for appointments or as needed.
  • Encourage patients to verbalize problems, feelings, or history to screen for completing initial and ongoing screening and evaluation of individuals or behavior changes.
  • Provide basic information regarding self-care to patients as instructed by professional staff.
  • Schedule routine or follow-up appointments to ensure patients receive necessary treatment.
  • Utilize an automated system to schedule routine or follow-up appointments for patients.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience in caring for mentally ill patients, including observing, recording, and reporting changes in their behavior.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires occasional travel and the ability to work in a variety of settings, including hospitals and clinics. The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license and have a clean driving record.
