POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Background:
Completion of a certificate program from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program recognized by the appropriate state agency and accredited by either the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Experience:
A minimum of one year of practical or vocational nursing experience post-graduation.

Licensure:
Must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse in any of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Certifications:
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Association is required.

Before administering IV medications, healthcare workers must complete a 2-hour IV certification lecture and obtain necessary certifications (e.g., IV, medications, and blood administration) in line with clinic nursing service and command policy within 60 days of starting services, including observation of three successful IV sticks.


Citizenship Requirement:
Healthcare workers must be U.S. citizens.

Language Proficiency:
Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently to ensure effective communication.

Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods and performing all required services.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Execute assigned duties in delivering care to diverse patient populations.
2. Assess and complete patient care based on individual conditions, utilizing judgment to determine the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, while accurately documenting relevant patient information.
3. Observe and respond to patient care needs, including medication administration, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education.
4. Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established protocols.
5. Identify urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance from the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.
6. Assist with complex diagnostic tests and specialized procedures, including patient preparation, assistance during examinations, handling specialized instruments, and monitoring patient conditions.
7. Provide orientation to peers and ancillary personnel regarding unit policies, procedures, skills, and standards of practice.
8. Foster a healthy work environment that enhances patient healthcare delivery, education for patients and families, and employee satisfaction.

WORK HOURS:
Service hours:

Services are provided Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays, between 0630 and 1630 hours. Shifts are typically scheduled for 8.5 to 9 hours, including an uncompensated 30 to 60-minute lunch break. No healthcare worker will be required to provide services exceeding 80 hours in a two-week period.
