Position Overview

The Department of Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and Physical Education is seeking dedicated student workers to serve as PiSci Leaders. These roles focus on providing academic support through PiSci tutoring, a specialized approach aimed at assisting students pursuing degrees and careers in STEM fields. Each leader will be assigned to a particular course and is expected to conduct regular study sessions.

Important Note: Candidates must possess a professor's recommendation to qualify for this position. Please review the additional qualifications below.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate a minimum of three study sessions weekly.
  • Attend assigned classes and promote your study sessions.
  • Exhibit professional conduct and attitudes towards peers, faculty, and others.
  • Engage in regular meetings with coordinators and the course instructor.
  • Assess session timings to maximize attendance.
  • Provide your supervisor with a current schedule of your activities.
  • Inform your supervisor if unable to conduct a session.
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive PiSci tutoring program.
  • Participate in training sessions.
  • Dedicate at least one hour weekly for session preparation.
  • Assist in the promotion of your study sessions.
  • Gather data and track attendance for all sessions.
  • Submit complete and accurate end-of-semester reports.
Required Qualifications
  • Enrollment in at least six credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters, and three credit hours in the Summer.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Achievement of an A grade in the STEM course for which you will be a PiSci Leader.
  • Possession of a professor's recommendation and an A grade in the relevant course.
  • Exhibit a friendly, professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Be a reliable team player who is punctual, organized, and detail-oriented.
