Academic Advisor Generalist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Academic Advisor Generalist to join our team at Victoria College. The successful candidate will provide academic and career advising to students, assist with the admissions process, and collaborate with other departments to promote student success.

About Our Institution: Victoria College is a public community college located in Victoria, Texas, and has been a respected community partner in the Crossroads region since 1925. We offer a variety of high-quality associate's degrees and transfer programs, preparing students for success in their chosen fields.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide academic and career advising to new and continuing students, including those in transfer and technical degree and certificate programs.
2. Assist students with the admissions process, including completion of applications and assessment requirements.
3. Collaborate with other departments to promote student success and retention.
4. Develop and maintain working relationships with other areas of the college.
5. Participate in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, sociology, communications, or related field.
• Requires a minimum of 2 years of strong customer service experience.
• Must support and have a clear understanding of the mission of community college.
• Experience working in an educational environment and working with a diverse population is preferred.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions: The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. The ability to lift and move materials weighing up to twenty pounds is also required.
