Cardiac Sonography Specialist

The Cardiac Sonography Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional diagnostic imaging services. This position involves operating advanced ultrasound technology to generate high-quality images in accordance with the established protocols of the healthcare facility. The specialist is also responsible for providing educational insights to medical professionals and technical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Echocardiogram Execution:
Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, conduct the necessary tests, and deliver accurate data/results to the cardiologist with minimal oversight. Generate preliminary reports for physician review as per the established schedule. - Diagnostic Imaging:
Conduct comprehensive echocardiograms, thoroughly assessing both normal and abnormal cardiac and extracardiac structures across all age groups, from infants to adults. Perform quantitative assessments using M-Mode, 2D, and Doppler techniques. - Assistance in Advanced Procedures:
Support healthcare practitioners during transesophageal, epicardial, and intracardiac echocardiographic assessments. - Congenital Heart Defect Recognition:
Independently identify simple and complex congenital heart defects. - Fetal Echocardiograms:
Conduct fetal echocardiograms as necessary.
Organizational Skills:
Efficiently manage testing for both inpatients and outpatients:
- Complete preliminary reports for all tests conducted for physician evaluation.
- Recognize the indications and limitations of various examinations and procedures.
- Order and maintain necessary supplies for operations.
- Participate in special projects and contribute to policy and procedure enhancements.
- Evaluate new technologies and suggest improvements.
- Ensure cleanliness and readiness of the examination room and equipment throughout the day.
Knowledge and Quality Assurance:
Maintain compliance with continuing medical education requirements as mandated by relevant accrediting bodies. Attend quality assurance reviews and conferences to enhance expertise in congenital heart disease.
Research and Training:
Engage in research initiatives and educational presentations as directed. Assist in data collection for research projects and support the training of new staff members under supervision.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a medical or cardiac sonographer. Certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association is also required.
Work Environment:
