The Cardiac Sonography Technician Associate delivers patient care during diagnostic cardiac ultrasound evaluations and/or assessments under the guidance of leadership and appropriate supervision.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Exhibits expertise and quality in executing the technical components of Diagnostic Ultrasound in accordance with departmental policies and procedures:
Conducts echocardiograms and vascular assessments within the limits of training and experience. Expands the examination scope based on any detected irregularities. Chooses the suitable transducers and settings for evaluations.
Assists physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms and stress echocardiograms.
Keeps comprehensive records of all procedures conducted and archives patient evaluations.

Patient Safety:
Operates equipment safely and correctly.
Conducts daily inspections of ultrasound equipment to ensure effective operation.
Reports any equipment malfunctions through the proper channels promptly.
Identifies the patient and the procedure to be performed in compliance with JCAHO standards.

Departmental Duties:
Ensures examination rooms and equipment are cleaned and maintained between patients.
Monitors and alerts appropriate personnel when supplies are needed.

Customer Service:
Prepares preliminary reports and communicates with referring physicians as necessary, following established protocols.
Collaborates with other staff to ensure optimal patient care is delivered.
Takes responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the Sonography area/department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Eligible for registry with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing Institute.

Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
