Job Title: OPS Senior Certified Nursing Assistant Weekend Warrior

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Senior Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Weekend Warrior Program at the State Veterans' Nursing Home of Florida. As a key member of our team, you will provide direct nursing care to residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents, including activities of daily living, ambulation, and mobility
  • Assist with all aspects of resident care, including oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Respond promptly and courteously to resident call lights
  • Observe, identify, and report resident concerns or needs to the shift supervisor
  • Complete assignments timely, completely, accurately, and in a cooperative manner
  • Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service and FDVA policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Current Florida Certified Nursing Assistant License
  • Willingness and ability to work evening, night, or weekend shifts
  • Willingness and ability to work at least one shift per pay period unless otherwise approved by the Director of Nursing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a 120-bed skilled long-term care nursing facility
  • High school diploma or GED
Work Environment:

This is an OPS SCNA Weekend Warrior position, responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents of the State Veterans' Nursing Home of Florida, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures.

Incumbent will assist with all aspects of resident care as assigned by the shift supervisor, including activities of daily living, ambulation, and mobility in facility.

Respond promptly and courteously when answering call lights.

Observe, identify, and report resident concerns or needs to the shift supervisor.

Complete assignments timely, completely, accurately, and in a cooperative manner.

Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service and FDVA policies and procedures.

Provide the necessary assistance when giving residents the following activities of daily living nursing care: oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming, hair, and nail care, shaving, toileting, eating and drinking, and mobility.

Assist as needed with related functions to, for, and with residents to include activities such as escorting to meals, assisting with laundry, and assisting with participation in activities.

Perform restorative measures such as obtaining and recording vital signs/weights, and assistance with self-administration of medications.

Document services provided within facility software/databases.

Work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, family or resident representatives, facility staff, physicians, ARNP's, consultants and ancillary service providers.

Follow Residents Rights policies.

Maintain confidentiality of resident information.

Transport and/or escort residents to appointments as assigned.

Assist with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health-related tasks.

Attend all in-service programs, training classes, and domiciliary meetings.

Responsible and accountable for information contained in the Employee Handbook.

Observe all facility safety, infection control and quality improvement, HIPPA policies and procedures, and internal quality improvement processes.

Perform other related duties as required.
