Job Title: Senior Certified Nursing Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at Ardie R. Copa's State Veterans' Nursing Home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

Job Summary:

The Senior Certified Nursing Assistant will provide high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Assist with nursing care, including oral hygiene, hair and nail care, and shaving.
  • Escort residents to appointments and activities.
  • Complete assignments timely, completely, and accurately.
  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
  • Perform restorative nursing measures as outlined in the care plan.
  • Measure and record vital signs as assigned.
  • Measure and record intake and output according to the care plan.
  • Observe, monitor, and report symptoms of potential skin breakdown and/or pressure ulcers to primary nurse.
  • Use appropriate techniques for mechanical lifts, transferring, turning, and positioning, range of motion exercises recognizing changes that place a resident at risk for pressure ulcers and falls.
  • Provide appropriate end-of-life care.
  • Respond to cognitively impaired residents or residents with difficult behaviors.
  • Document all care given on the appropriate form and/or utilize the electronic patient care documentation system.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents.
  • Ensure efficient use of supplies and document in the electronic inventory tracking system.
  • Respond to resident's requests and needs timely and appropriately.
  • Answer resident call lights promptly.
  • Notify the nurse of any changes in the resident's condition.
  • Complete assignments from the primary nurse or RN supervisor within the time allowed.
  • Attend all required facility training.
  • Perform related work as required.
Requirements:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Must be willing and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid Certified Nursing Assistant license in Florida.
  • Must be willing and able to work a schedule that is inclusive of weekends and holidays.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Successful completion of the employment screening process to include, but not limited to, a national background investigation and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a 120-bed skilled long-term care nursing facility.
  • Possess a current CPR card.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
