JOB SUMMARY:

The Teacher I role involves providing high-quality, individualized education to children in a center-based environment. You will also engage and support parents in fostering their children's learning at home, enhancing family involvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning:

  • Establish a learning environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and play.
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans that align with developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Utilize observations and data to tailor lessons to meet the developmental needs of each child.
  • Design interventions for children requiring additional support and make referrals as necessary.

Supervision & Guidance:

  • Adopt a positive approach to behavior management that emphasizes children's strengths.
  • Provide structure and routines that help children learn self-regulation and independence.
  • Ensure constant supervision to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.

Teaching:

  • Engage actively with children in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Incorporate both child-led and teacher-led educational experiences.
  • Encourage creativity and a love for learning in every child.

Assessment:

  • Regularly collect and document observations of children's progress.
  • Utilize assessment tools to support children's behavioral and developmental outcomes.

Collaboration:

  • Participate in multidisciplinary assessments and IEP meetings for children in special education.
  • Foster relationships with parents and community members.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to plan and reflect on educational activities.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors regarding classroom status.
  • Demonstrate respect and sensitivity towards cultural and economic differences.
  • Engage families in their children's education and development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood education, or an Associate degree with relevant experience is required. Registration on the Montana Early Childhood Practitioner Registry is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to lift and move children and objects, engage in physical activities, and maintain a safe environment for all children.
