About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join our team at Mattress Firm. As a key member of our warehouse operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day operations of our distribution center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of warehouse operations, including inventory management, shipping and receiving, and quality control.
  • Contribute to meeting overall financial objectives of the distribution center compared to budget.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive work environment, fostering open communication and teamwork among team members.
  • Ensure alignment with strategic vision and communicate organizational mission and values to the team.
  • Communicate with team members through regular and frequent meetings, ensuring clear understanding of expectations and goals.
  • Hold one-on-one meetings with direct reports at least twice a month, providing feedback and coaching to support their growth and development.
  • Ensure adherence to operational processes, policies, and procedures, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive initiatives to enhance warehouse operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitate resolution of customer service issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Verify driver payroll for accuracy, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct required physical cycle counts, reviewing discrepancies and making appropriate corrections.
  • Ensure use of proper safety equipment and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality, as well as appropriate brand representation.
  • Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date, staying up-to-date on industry best practices and company policies.
  • Execute team member performance improvement plans, progressively discipline and terminations when appropriate per Company policy.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in monthly warehouse-wide meetings to communicate organization/DC wins and opportunities, addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Assist Loss Prevention with loss prevention audits and safety audits, ensuring a secure and compliant work environment.
  • May be responsible for safety and other training, periodically retraining team members and contract employees in the DC.
  • May monitor employee time records and review/approve paid time off and leave of absence requests in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • May participate in interviewing and the hiring process for potential DC team members, contributing to the growth and development of our team.
  • May manage the warehouse in the absence of the warehouse leader, ensuring continuity and effective leadership.
  • May be involved in assisting with coaching conversations and administering disciplinary actions, supporting the growth and development of team members.
  • May lead or participate in daily stand-up meetings at the beginning of each shift or team meeting, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • May take an active role in onboarding and training new DC team members, ensuring a smooth transition and effective integration into the team.
  • Execute company initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor, contributing to the success and growth of our organization.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying current on industry trends and best practices.
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, the department, and the Company, driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

2+ Years Related Experience

At least 6 months of Forklift experience

Pay Range: $55K annually
