Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician 2 plays a vital role in the laboratory team, responsible for receiving and processing specimens, performing clerical checks, and supporting functions. This role may also involve phlebotomy duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts routine laboratory procedures with a limited range of possible errors.
  • Sorts, labels, and records patient specimens, setting up specimen, material, and equipment for Medical Technologists to perform tests.
  • Operates centrifuges, simplex timers, cell washers, and other laboratory equipment to complete assigned duties.
  • Maintains an appropriate inventory of supplies.
  • Maintains effective communication and working relationships with laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
  • Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
Requirements
  • Phlebotomy skills for all age groups.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
