About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Engineer to join our Workplace Health and Safety organization at Amazon. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Amazon Worldwide Design Engineering teams to ensure new equipment and modifications to existing equipment comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and harmonized standards.
  • Lead risk assessments, assist in the development and review of equipment designs, and provide guidance on requirements for controls and devices.
  • Collaborate with various engineering, design, and operations teams to drive a systematic approach to address risk identification, mitigation, and management of safety solutions.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, training, and safe operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Interpret and apply regulations, codes, bylaws, and all relevant standards to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Advise partner engineering organizations and operations teams on regulations, regulatory compliance concerns, and good engineering practices relating to equipment design.
  • Participate in new standard developments with Engineering, Amazon Robotics, Injury Prevention Specialists, RME, Operations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work with various teams to review and approve designs of new equipment and modifications to existing equipment.
  • Maintain all regulatory compliance documentation to ensure accurate and up-to-date adherence to standards.
  • Participate in the development of new organizational standards.
  • Manage projects that require certifications that comply with local, national, and international regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of equipment certification requirements (CE, UL, etc.) and experience working with NRTLs.
  • Integration of control systems into the design of new and existing equipment.
  • Work with WHS safety teams, technical engineering teams, and suppliers to specify safety or other risk-related requirements for projects across multiple regions.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Safety Engineer who can lead our safety efforts and ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, standards, training, and safe operating procedures to ensure compliance and safety.

You will be a key member of our team, working closely with various engineering, design, and operations teams to drive a systematic approach to address risk identification, mitigation, and management of safety solutions.

You will have a strong understanding of regulations, codes, bylaws, and all relevant standards, and be able to interpret and apply them to ensure compliance and safety.

You will also have experience working with NRTLs and equipment certification requirements (CE, UL, etc.), and be able to integrate control systems into the design of new and existing equipment.

We are looking for someone who is a strong communicator and team player, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for managing projects that require certifications that comply with local, national, and international regulations, and for maintaining all regulatory compliance documentation to ensure accurate and up-to-date adherence to standards.
