The Material Handler Forklift Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient flow of daily production by moving raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Safely and efficiently move components, containers, partials, and scrap according to current movement and storage policies and procedures.
- Perform material handling duties, including loading and unloading parts using forklifts or tugger operations.
- Ensure there are no production delays, shortages, or stock loss.
- Perform daily inspections, maintain equipment, and report any service conditions or safety concerns.
- Properly rotate stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method and notify relevant personnel of potential shortages or overstocks.
- Ensure all outgoing shipments are properly scanned to the Bill of Lading (BOL) and all inbound shipments are accurately checked in.
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with a variable workload.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet customer requirements.
- Basic computer software skills are an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with other team members.
- Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods while operating material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Prior experience operating a forklift, reach truck, or tugger.
- Prior experience loading and unloading trailers.
- Ability to understand, anticipate, and follow direction while exercising maturity of judgment.
- Possesses or has the ability to obtain a fork lift and tugger license and demonstrates safe and efficient equipment operation.
- Good coordination of movement for routine, repetitive tasks and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
