Compensation Operations Manager
Overview: The Compensation Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing and directing all aspects of payroll operations to guarantee timely, precise, and compliant processing of employee remuneration.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll System Oversight:
- Establish and uphold payroll systems to ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, deductions, taxes, and garnishments.
- Conduct periodic evaluations of systems to improve efficiency and precision.
Payroll Administration:
- Supervise payroll modifications for new employees, separations, and salary adjustments.
- Ensure the accurate processing of payroll across multiple states.
- Maintain detailed records and reports of payroll activities.
Regulatory Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Manage 401(k) contributions and matching in line with plan stipulations.
- Facilitate audits by supplying necessary documentation.
System Improvements:
- Identify and propose enhancements to payroll systems and processes.
- Stay informed on best practices in payroll management.
Support and Conflict Resolution:
- Provide project and administrative assistance to the Human Resources department.
- Address and resolve employee relations matters.
- Oversee the HR support helpdesk and delegate tickets to HR team members.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of payroll operations, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and multi-state payroll taxation.
- Familiarity with the Fair Labor Standards Act and Department of Labor Wage and Hour regulations.
- Strong organizational capabilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient supervisory and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software, particularly Dayforce.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
- Professional certifications such as PHR or SHRM-CP are advantageous.
