Automation Scientist III Job Description

Primary Talent Partners is seeking an experienced Automation Scientist III to join a multinational pharmaceutical company in South San Francisco, CA. This 12-month contract position offers a competitive hourly rate of $42.00-$47.00 and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, plan, and execute robust automation strategies to support the DMPK group in SSF
  • Collaborate with department members, IT, and functional teams to implement automation workflows, support lab instrumentation, and develop novel data handling and analysis workflows
  • Contribute to the development of automated workflows to support assays such as immunoassay, peptide stability, protein binding, and automated sample preparation for plasma and tissue drug concentration analysis
  • Map and integrate workflows for efficient use of automation and space
  • Develop and update operations SOPs, troubleshoot errors, maintain, and update instruments
  • Train scientists in automation workflows and platforms, manage data integrity through automated processes
  • Collaborate to identify, evaluate, and recommend novel automation and assay strategies to drive discovery programs, including machine learning and artificial intelligence
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automated Sciences, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent with scientific expertise in laboratory equipment and bioanalytical assays
  • Experience with liquid handling systems and automated laboratory devices such as washers, dispensers, and centrifuges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to generate, evaluate, and understand scientific data generated on robotic platforms
  • Self-sufficiency and ability to hit the ground running
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Integrating robotic system schedulers, working in pharmaceutical or biotech companies, and/or laboratory experience
  • Implementing novel automation workflows, authoring operations SOPs, and using Microsoft programming languages
  • Electro-Mechanical design/assembly skills and use of electronic laboratory notebooks
