Overview: As a Law Enforcement Officer II, your primary responsibility will be to safeguard the community and its assets in Fountain by preventing, reporting, investigating, and analyzing criminal activities within the designated area.

Core Objective: The principal aim of this role is to uphold the safety, health, and welfare of the public through the enforcement of local, state, and federal regulations. The Law Enforcement Officer II position demands a greater level of expertise compared to the Officer I role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive and cooperative atmosphere within the City organization
  • Patrol designated regions to deter and identify unlawful activities
  • Respond to emergency calls, investigate incidents, and carry out initial inquiries
  • Enforce regulations, issue citations, make arrests, and compile reports
  • Provide testimony in court as necessary
  • Assist during medical emergencies and collaborate with other law enforcement entities
  • Build effective relationships with community members and colleagues

Additional Duties:

  • Perform maintenance on patrol vehicles and related equipment
  • Engage in crime prevention initiatives and public speaking events
  • Participate in training sessions to remain informed on policies and procedures
  • Carry out other responsibilities and special projects as assigned

Equipment Utilized: Involves the operation of various machines, tools, and equipment with discernment

Physical Requirements: Involves moderate physical activity on a regular basis

Work Environment: Includes exposure to diverse conditions, such as outdoor and indoor settings, temperature variations, loud noises, and emergency situations

Minimum Qualifications:

Law Enforcement Officer II: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement along with relevant certifications

Required Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Basic Peace Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T) Certificate and CPR/First Aid Certification

Communication Skills: Must possess the ability to interpret technical documents, draft reports, and communicate effectively

Decision-Making Skills: Involves substantial decision-making and policy formulation

Work Complexity: Requires problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and resilience under unusual pressures
