Key Responsibilities- Transaction Monitoring and Analysis: Review and analyze account or customer transactional activity for potential money laundering or terrorist financing. Utilize critical thinking skills and experience to provide a thorough and comprehensive narrative justifying the decision to forward to the Investigations Team for further review or to file a SAR.
- Research and Investigation: Use Bank systems and publicly available search engines to validate identities, research individual backgrounds, and obtain information on transactional counterparties. Analyze transactional activity and utilize this information to support final decisions.
- Business Partner Relationships: Develop and maintain professional-level communication with business partners to enhance the ability to obtain customer information critical in making determinations on customer risk to the bank.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Maintain disciplines in consistently following current processes, procedures, and policies ensuring compliance with applicable Regulatory requirements regarding timely, accurate, and thorough investigations.
- Interactions with Law Enforcement: Interact with Federal, State, and Local law enforcement agencies in receiving and providing critical investigative and case elements that can be used in prosecuting elements of a crime.
- Professional Development: Continuously learn and develop new skills that are transferable to other areas of the Department and can provide additional bench strength for the team.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of banking or other financial services experience preferred. 0-3 years of experience from a financial institution is highly preferred.
- Knowledge and Skills: Develop a thorough knowledge of anti-money laundering regulatory requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control, USA PATRIOT Act, and related requirements. Obtain and maintain a proficiency with bank and FIU applications, including Surveillance Monitoring, Investigations, and Case Management platforms.
- Investigative Skills: Develop investigative skills in analysis of transactional activity that are indicative of unusual cash structuring, ACH related transactions, wire alerts, loan activity, and activity that appears unrelated to stated business purposes.
- Comprehensive Narrative: Learn how to provide comprehensive narrative to cases involving National Security Letters (NSL's), Law Enforcement or Judiciary Requests, External Media cases, 314(a) positive matches, Internal referrals, 314(b) requests, EDD referrals, International wires to/from bank in designated High Risk Country, OFAC Sanctions screening alerts, and at the discretion of the Investigations manager.
- Review and Analysis: Review previous alerts, No SARs, and SARs. Utilize Sr. Investigators and management as resources in recognizing what is expected or normal activity.
- Recommendations: With approval from Manager, recommends referrals to Fraud/EDD. Be attentive to recommended corrections or changes made to your report and learn from those observations.
- Enhanced Due Diligence: Familiarity with Enhanced Due Diligence, Customer Due Diligence, and Customer Risk Rating.
- Information Sharing: Understanding of Information Sharing and Government Reporting.
- Risk-Based Analysis: Knowledge of Applying Risk-based Analysis and Reporting Methodologies.
- BSA/AML Compliance: Understanding of BSA/AML Compliance and Risk Best Practices.
