We are seeking a highly skilled Security and Safety Officer to join our team at the Vermont Judiciary. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our courtrooms, courthouses, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide security services for judges, staff, and visitors in the courtroom and courthouse, adhering to Judiciary use-of-force guidelines.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness among employees, encouraging timely responses to emergencies and facilitating Safety Committee efforts to implement location-specific safety practices and procedures.
- Coordinate employee risk management communication and training, including fire drills, slip and fall prevention, de-escalation, CPR/AED, first aid, Stop the Bleed, bomb threats procedure, Active Shooter/Active Threat Awareness, and other safety content.
- Document daily shift activities via a computerized security log and security incident reporting system, compiling reports as needed.
- Complete specialized security training and operate safety and security equipment or electronic devices.
- Collaborate with other security personnel to carry out security arrangements, evacuation plans, and emergency situation resolutions.
- High School Graduation or GED and two or more years of workforce experience in a responsible position.
- Experience in security, law enforcement, safety, de-escalation situations, and/or emergency services is preferred.
- Attention to detail and customer service skills are also preferred.
