General Responsibilities/Job Summary:
This role involves providing assistance within the classroom under the direct guidance of the educator. Responsibilities include supporting classroom activities, tutoring students, and facilitating the implementation of educational programs in mathematics and communication arts (reading, writing, listening, speaking).

Work is conducted under the supervision of an administrative or technical superior, following established guidelines and procedures.

Essential Functions/Duties:
  • Assist in tutoring subjects as outlined in lesson plans, providing individual or group support to enhance student learning.
  • Support K-12 mathematics instruction in both individual and group settings as directed by the educator.
  • Facilitate K-12 communication arts (reading, writing, listening, speaking) assistance in individual or group settings as per educator's instructions.
  • Monitor and assist students with class assignments under teacher direction.
  • Maintain records of student progress and prepare relevant reports.
  • Oversee students' independent projects as instructed by the educator.
  • Participate in training sessions related to job responsibilities as requested by administration.
  • Report any emergency situations to the principal or other building administrators immediately.
  • Adhere to classroom discipline plans as directed by the teacher.
  • Prepare instructional materials, develop visual aids, and maintain classroom displays.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student performance and maintain records as instructed by the educator.
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid/AED certification when required.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance and complete assigned tasks.
Additional Duties:
  • Deliver instructional materials as directed by the educator.
  • Assemble visual educational aids as instructed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of subject matter, particularly in mathematics and communication arts.
  • Knowledge of child development stages.
  • Ability to work independently while following established guidelines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain educational records and prepare reports.
  • Capability to evaluate subject matter assessments.
  • Quickly learn and apply classroom support principles and practices.
  • Skill in imparting knowledge to students.
  • Basic mathematical operation skills.
  • Proficiency in operating standard office equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work-related matters.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Physical ability to assist students with special needs and carry materials as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education and Training: Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education; possession of an associate's (or higher) degree; or meeting a rigorous standard of quality through a formal assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Required Certification/Licenses: Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification when required.

Evaluation:
Performance will be assessed annually according to the policies of the Elizabethtown Area School District.
