Job SummaryThe Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care during operative and invasive procedures. This professional nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for delegating patient care to other healthcare team members.
As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Operating Room Registered Nurse coordinates patient care, communicates and collaborates extensively with other team members, patients, and their families. This role requires maintaining high standards of professional ethics.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assess patients before surgery and alleviate their concerns.
- Gather all necessary supplies for the operation.
- Ensure the operating room remains sterile.
- Position and prepare patients on the operating table.
- Pass medical instruments or other objects/supplies to the surgeon during the operation.
- Monitor patient vital signs to detect anomalies.
- Evaluate patients in post-operative phases.
- Adhere to safety standards and precautions.
We require an Associate Degree in Nursing, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred. Must possess licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Previous experience in general, orthopedic, vascular, and endoscopic surgery is preferred. Completion of BLS, ACLS (American Heart Association), and IV certification is also required.
Excellent customer service, communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role. A minimum of one year of RN experience is required to qualify for the sign-on bonus.
