About the Role

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As an HVAC Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heating and air conditioning systems, as well as other related equipment, to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and equipment to ensure they are functioning properly and efficiently.
  • Identify and repair problems with HVAC systems and equipment, including troubleshooting and diagnosing issues.
  • Install, maintain, and repair various trade-specific equipment, including HVAC systems, air compressors, and pneumatic and electronic controls.
  • Interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications to ensure correct and safe installation of systems and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of work performed, including parts and materials used.
Requirements
  • Understanding of regulatory controls and requirements of NEC, NFPA, AQMD, OSHA, and JCAHO standards.
  • Ability to work overtime or alternate shifts as required to meet hospital needs.
  • Must possess EPA Certification or have the ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Current State of California Driver's License.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, shop drawings, and manufacturers' technical manuals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
