Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Assistant Supervisor to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Facilities Management department, you will be responsible for planning and organizing the activities of our fume hood and exhaust fan mechanics, ensuring the efficient maintenance and repair of all campus fume hood and exhaust fan systems.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and participate in the maintenance and repair of campus fume hood and exhaust fan systems
  • Implement and oversee the Tiscor comprehensive preventative maintenance program to provide equipment reliability
  • Accurately record repairs and maintenance of spare parts inventory
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and campus stakeholders
Requirements
  • Two years of technical school training or job-related equipment-training seminars in HVAC or five years of working experience in the HVAC field
  • Proficiency in the use of basic hand and power tools found in the HVAC industry
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Ability to wear a respirator
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with campus mechanical spaces, fume hoods, and exhaust fan systems
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems, safety procedures, and laboratory entry protocol
  • Intimate knowledge of ASHRAE performance testing procedure for fume hoods

The incumbent will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with co-workers and the campus community is essential.
