Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Budget Analyst to join our team at the City of Boulder. As a key member of our Finance Department, you will play a critical role in providing financial expertise and support to our Planning & Development Services Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the Planning & Development Services Department, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with city policies.
  • Conduct financial and performance data analysis, using various financial software systems and data visualization tools to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide budget analysis and recommendations to departmental leadership and city management, ensuring alignment with city goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with other city staff to gather financial and management information, including program objectives, costs, revenue sources, and performance measures.
  • Support the development of the Operating Budget and Six Year Capital Improvement Program documents, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Finance or related field; or equivalent of eight (8) years of experience may substitute for the education requirement only.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible budgetary, financial, or related experience, and professional experience in budget in a government setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate effectively with non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial database systems, with experience using data visualization software a plus.
