Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pathologists Assistant to join our team at Altru Health System. As a Pathologists Assistant, you will play a critical role in the preparation and performance of surgical specimen and frozen section dissections, ensuring accurate gross description dictation and high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accuracy of patient identification on all specimens processed for microscopic examination.
  • Perform surgical specimen dissection on simple to complex specimens and provide quality material for routine histology studies and other specialized tests as required.
  • Perform frozen sections and maintain the cryostats.
  • Dictate complete and accurate gross description.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, adequate provision of supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology gross cutting area and morgue.
  • Perform, interpret, and report tests for which the individual has been validated according to standard operating procedure.
  • Understand technical aspects of Anatomic Pathology, recognize reasons for discrepant test results, and take appropriate corrective action to facilitate quality results.
Requirements
  • Pathologists' Assistant - Certified | American Society for Clinical Pathology | Within 12 Months of Start Date
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and reaching, with occasional stooping, bending, and twisting. The ability to lift up to 10 pounds and push/pull up to 10 pounds is also required.
