Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pathologists Assistant to join our team at Altru Health System. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation and performance of surgical specimen and frozen section dissections, and will be responsible for accurate gross description dictation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accuracy of patient identification on all specimens processed for microscopic examination.
  • Perform surgical specimen dissection on simple to complex specimens and provide quality material for routine histology studies and other specialized tests as required.
  • Perform frozen sections and maintain the cryostats.
  • Dictate complete and accurate gross description.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, adequate provision of supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology gross cutting area and morgue.
  • Perform, interpret, and report tests for which the individual has been validated according to standard operating procedure.
  • Understand technical aspects of Anatomic Pathology, recognize reasons for discrepant test results, and take appropriate corrective action to facilitate quality results.
Requirements
  • Pathologists' Assistant - Certified | American Society for Clinical Pathology | Within 12 Months of Start Date
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and reaching, with occasional stooping, bending, and twisting. The ability to lift up to 10 pounds is also required.
