Lead Relay Field Technician

Join Qualus Services as a Lead Relay Field Technician and contribute to the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of the electric grid. As a key member of our Field Engineering department, you will be responsible for calibrating, installing, maintaining, and repairing protective relays and associated equipment.
Responsibilities:- Interpret project-level scope of work and effectively plan commissioning and resource scheduling to ensure timely completion of test activities without service interruptions.
- Interpret substation drawings, including single line drawings, AC and DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
- Develop procedures and test plans in support of maintenance and construction activities, including isolation plans and functional guidelines.
- Perform testing, including reading and verifying voltage and current inputs to relays, verifying metering, calibrating relays, and trip testing.
- Lead and perform routine troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment, commission new substations, and provide technical support to Field Service personnel.
- Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
- Experience in substation design, construction, commissioning, SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation, and testing is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power system protection and control schemes, test equipment, and test equipment software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and tailor communication for the audience and situation.
