Job Overview

Position Objective:

This role is integral to the acquisition of agrochemicals, fertilizers, and seeds on a global scale. The incumbent will act as a key intermediary between Del Monte and its suppliers, focusing on the research, assessment, and negotiation of both immediate purchases and long-term contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a consultant to stakeholders, delivering insightful business analyses and recommendations on a quarterly basis to aid in budget formulation and strategic planning.
  • Stay informed about market dynamics and pricing trends within assigned categories. Cultivate market intelligence related to the agrochemical and fertilizer sectors to identify new sourcing opportunities, ensuring supply security and business continuity.
  • Maintain a diverse supplier base to mitigate reliance on single sources. Evaluate supplier performance using established or newly developed KPIs.
  • Continuously assess materials and methodologies to discover innovative approaches for fulfilling material needs at reduced costs or with competitive advantages.
  • Conduct thorough price-cost evaluations on essential supplies to ascertain competitiveness and reasonableness of pricing.
  • Identify and recommend efficiency enhancements, supporting the business in their execution.
  • Review purchase requisitions for accuracy, completeness, and necessary approvals in line with corporate financial protocols.
  • Manage procurement operations including Purchase Orders, price-list oversight, and contract lifecycle management, adhering to corporate financial guidelines and authority levels. Engage in negotiations and administration of significant contracts exceeding financial authority.
  • Proactively consolidate requirements across multiple divisions to maximize purchasing leverage.
  • Enhance value by showcasing examples of synergies across divisions and countries, driving teams towards successful implementation.
  • Evaluate all competitive bids and select suppliers based on optimal value, considering quality, reliability, and historical performance, within financial authority limits. Recommend vendor purchases that exceed authority limits and negotiate terms and transportation methods to facilitate timely deliveries.
  • Facilitate communication between suppliers and divisions to promptly resolve discrepancies, ensuring compliance with purchase order specifications.
  • Address any discrepancies with the accounting department regarding purchase orders and invoices.
  • Research and provide pricing, literature, and samples to divisions for designated projects.
  • Compile and submit monthly purchasing reports to management by the specified deadline.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of vendor performance, pricing history, product details, and commodity listings.
  • Assist divisions with purchasing systems, methods, and procedures, as well as multi-division procurement agreements, ensuring timely communication.
  • Distribute safety guidelines and usage procedures established by vendors for the proper handling of agricultural and other procured materials.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of global procurement experience in multi-site, multi-cultural organizations.
  • Solid understanding of category management and strategic sourcing.
  • Experience in risk mitigation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong negotiation capabilities and effective prioritization skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle and SAP platforms.
  • General knowledge of agrochemicals and fertilizers.
  • Understanding of the Food & Beverage industries.
