Position Summary

This role is responsible for building a professional rapport with client families on a pre-need basis, ensuring that all options and needs related to cemetery services and associated merchandise are thoroughly addressed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work independently to generate new leads and referrals, proactively creating sales with minimal supervision.
  • Develop new prospects and community contacts through various strategies, including cold calling, telephone outreach, seminar participation, and referrals.
  • Report progress and submit required documentation to the relevant manager in a timely manner.
  • Adhere strictly to pricing structures and ensure the completion and submission of all contracts and necessary documents within required deadlines.
  • Represent the company professionally and compassionately, maintaining a polished appearance and employing honesty and integrity in all job functions.
  • Ensure high service quality levels, following company procedures when addressing complaints and conducting post-interment service activities.
  • Facilitate a seamless service process for client families through positive communication and collaboration with all internal departments.
  • Protect the confidentiality of company and client family information, including sales and marketing materials and client family details.
  • Identify and respond to all hazards at the location and on the grounds.
  • Participate in all required training initiatives specific to the location and company.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
  • College degree or some college experience is preferred.
  • A proven track record of success in outside sales is strongly preferred.
  • Possession (or ability to obtain) an insurance license may be required by applicable state law.
  • A valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and an acceptable driving record are necessary.

Additional Qualifications

  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Exhibit professionalism and courtesy in accordance with employer expectations.
  • Demonstrated willingness to engage in community involvement to enhance market share.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, community leaders, and grieving families.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and foster a collaborative working environment through effective organization and communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and exercise sound judgment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Most duties are performed in an outdoor setting.
  • Outdoor responsibilities may involve exposure to natural elements such as inclement weather, extreme temperatures, uneven terrain, dust, gas, and/or fumes.
  • Equipment utilized includes, but is not limited to, computers, fax machines, copiers, merchant terminals, multi-line phone systems, and personal or company vehicles.
  • Employees in this role are regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
  • This position may also require reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Exposure to chemicals and/or bloodborne pathogens is possible, with a low risk classification.

Travel Requirements

  • This position may necessitate up to 10 percent of travel outside the area and overnight stays.
  • Travel is primarily local and occurs during business hours only.
  • Time spent at the location or in the office should not exceed 20% of total work time.
