Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Solutions Lead to join our team at the University of California - San Francisco. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direction to staff, administering policies, and recommending changes to department policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities

Consulting and Collaboration

The Research Solutions Lead will consult extensively with researchers and administrators planning and deploying research capture systems on the UCSF Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) system. In this customer-facing role, the position will work closely with principal investigators to architect bespoke data collection platforms and data capture workflows.

Technical Expertise

The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of data management systems, practices, and standards. They will be able to represent relevant information in abstract models, think critically, and pay attention to detail. The candidate will also be able to prepare complex data models unassisted and understand and model complex knowledge-intensive processes such as scholarly and research processes.

Leadership and Collaboration

The Research Solutions Lead will supervise and mentor team members and contractors to ensure accurate and timely completion of work. They will lead the team towards a philosophy of research reproducibility through course-setting, best practices, and dissemination of documentation for internal protocols and customer engagement/training.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 5+ years of relevant progressive experience.
  • Certification in CITI Human Subjects Protection.
  • Familiarity with highly complex logical data design and data mapping or data conversion at the platform level.
  • Familiarity with highly complex data quality and governance issues and requirements, including regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in platform integration and the specification of platform services and pipeline engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a consulting practice in a position responsible for all of the following: Customer relationship management, project scoping, invoicing and billing, resource management, and sales engineering.
