You will be expected to undertake project management duties, along with overseeing staff development and mentoring initiatives.

Specific Duties May Include:
Assisting clients from industrial, institutional, and governmental sectors in addressing groundwater contamination stemming from coal combustion residuals (CCR);

Supporting mining clients with the geochemical characterization of mine waste, water quality modeling, and effective water management;

Managing tasks and projects related to the planning and execution of investigations and remediation, geochemical modeling, site characterization, budget oversight, adherence to timelines, quality assurance, client satisfaction, and profitability;

Creating conceptual designs for remediation projects involving soil, sediment, and groundwater (e.g., feasibility study level design), which may include supporting drawing preparation, engineering analyses, and/or developing construction specifications;


Engaging in business development activities, including attracting new clients and securing repeat business from existing clients, leading proposal efforts, and formulating and executing a business development strategy; with the opportunity to take a leading role in developing the mining practice area for the southeastern region.


Maintaining a strong presence in the marketplace through regular client interactions, participation in professional organizations, and attending and presenting at industry events.

Overseeing and mentoring junior staff and managing subcontractors;

Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other stakeholders; and


Occasionally, the role may involve fieldwork, including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment characterization, drilling oversight, contractor management, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.


Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Geochemistry, Geology, or a related discipline. (required)

An advanced degree with a focus on geochemistry. (preferred)

Professional certification (P.G.). (preferred)

Skills and Experience:


A minimum of 8 years of direct experience in environmental consulting, including projects focused on developing conceptual site models and understanding the fate/transport of inorganic constituents in groundwater and surface water, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Familiarity with geochemical forensic methods, including stable isotopes. (preferred)

Proficiency in geochemical modeling software such as PHREEQC, Geochemist Workbench, and reactive transport modeling experience is a plus. (preferred)

Experience in mine waste geochemical characterization and management. (preferred)

Thorough understanding of USEPA regulations and guidance, including inorganics monitored natural attenuation. (preferred; Coal Combustion Residual Rule knowledge is a plus)

Experience with applied geochemical remedial actions (e.g., passive reactive barriers, geochemical injections) (preferred)

A willingness to engage with Geosyntec's research and development initiatives to create new applied technologies/approaches (preferred)

Experience working within multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)

Proven success in client development and management. (required)

Strong leadership capabilities. (required)


Ability to thrive in a dynamic consulting environment, managing multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client sites as necessary.

Fieldwork and overnight travel may be necessary.

Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
