Instrumentation and Controls Technician Role

(Focus on Instrumentation, Controls, PLC, HMI, and Electrical)

In this role, you will support biologics pharmaceutical manufacturing operations through predictive, corrective, and preventative maintenance of GMP equipment and systems, which include instrumentation, controls, HMI, PLC, and electrical components. Responsibilities may encompass instrument installation and calibration, alongside additional support tasks such as loop checks, manifold installation, and assistance with running sensing lines, signal wiring, and conduit as necessary. The ideal candidate will possess several years of I&C experience within a GMP environment. This position is a temporary assignment with the possibility of extension.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration for GMP instrumentation and controls within the utility plant.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation equipment in the core manufacturing areas and workshops.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and provide repairs for electrical equipment.
  • Support and engage in troubleshooting of electrical components and PLC systems.
  • Execute predictive and preventive maintenance on both GMP and non-GMP devices.
  • Complete GMP documentation to support PM activities for PLC control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, EPA, OSHA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Optimize preventative maintenance processes for PLC control systems.
  • Participate in maintenance and mechanical training.
  • Order essential supplies as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience as a technician performing preventative maintenance on PLC instrumentation and controls in a GMP setting.
  • Genuine interest in assisting a large biopharma organization with preventative maintenance in the utility plant for electrical, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Familiarity with electrical and electromechanical principles.
  • Willingness to acquire new technical, HMI, and electrical skills.
  • Electrical certification is highly preferred.
