Vehicle Maintenance Specialist

Job Overview:
We are looking for a proficient and dedicated Vehicle Maintenance Specialist to become a part of our dynamic team. In this role, you will be tasked with the upkeep and repair of a varied fleet of vehicles, which includes cars, trucks, vans, and specialized machinery. Your mechanical knowledge and diagnostic abilities will be essential in swiftly identifying and addressing issues, ensuring our fleet operates safely and reliably.

Key Responsibilities:
- Execute preventative maintenance activities, such as fluid and filter replacements, tire rotations, and comprehensive inspections, to guarantee peak performance of vehicles and machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues utilizing an array of diagnostic instruments and equipment.
- Perform detailed inspections of vehicles and machinery to detect potential problems and suggest suitable repairs or replacements.
- Repair and substitute faulty parts, systems, and components, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain precise records of maintenance and repair activities, including documenting parts usage and labor hours.

- Research costs for necessary maintenance items and parts to procure them at competitive prices.

- Collaborate with fellow team members, including drivers and other technicians, to organize repairs and prioritize work orders based on operational requirements.
- Monitor vehicle performance and conduct road tests as necessary to confirm repairs and uncover additional issues.
- Provide prompt assistance and support for vehicle breakdowns and emergencies, both on-site and off-site, to minimize downtime and ensure fleet readiness.
- Stay informed about industry developments and advancements in vehicle technologies through ongoing education and training opportunities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and others.

- Responsible for mentoring new staff in safety practices related to vehicles and equipment.

- Assist with facility and parking lot maintenance as required, including snow removal.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified automotive or diesel technology program is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a Vehicle Maintenance Specialist or in a similar capacity, with a solid understanding of vehicle diagnostic procedures and repair methods.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment, including scan tools, computerized systems, and specialized instruments.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with familiarity across various vehicle makes and models.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, with the ability to accurately and efficiently diagnose complex issues.
- Solid understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to vehicle repair and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, exhibiting strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to lift heavy objects and work in diverse weather conditions.

Working Environment/Safety Requirements:
  • This position is situated in a vehicle repair environment, with exposure to varying temperatures, primarily within a garage setting. You will encounter various chemicals and fumes associated with vehicle maintenance.
Education: High School Diploma or GED; VO-Tech Graduate; Associate's degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent on-the-job training or Military Training.
