Position Overview:

We are seeking a Culinary Specialist to support our communities. This corporate role is designed to either assist a community's Director of Culinary Services (DCS) or to take on the responsibilities of the position if it is unoccupied. The Culinary Specialist will oversee the Culinary Services Department of a community, ensuring that hospitality and service standards are met or exceeded. Additionally, this role may involve assisting with the recruitment and training of Culinary Directors and participating in corporate projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Executive Director in the recruitment and training of Directors of Culinary Services.
  • Conduct interviews and evaluate candidates for suitability.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and job descriptions for food services.
  • Assist the Corporate Team with various projects and initiatives.
  • Plan menus and menu cycles based on cultural and regional preferences, as well as dietary guidelines.
  • Monitor food quality and consistency, including temperatures, portion control, and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with resident dietary restrictions.
  • Supervise kitchen staff to ensure adherence to cooking methods and portion sizes.
  • Engage with residents during meal times to assess satisfaction and address any concerns.
  • Manage inventory and order food and supplies, ensuring accuracy upon delivery.
  • Conduct regular Quality Assurance Audits and maintain safe food handling practices.
  • Participate in Food Forum meetings and negotiate agreements with vendors.
  • Standardize recipes and evaluate new products for meal service.
  • Organize and conduct training programs for kitchen personnel.
  • Monitor and manage food service budgets, addressing any variances as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive service delivery to residents.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment purchases in line with established procedures.
  • Prepare departmental objectives and maintain accurate records and schedules.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

Provide guidance to community Executive Directors and Culinary Services Directors to ensure high-quality service delivery. This includes offering feedback on culinary operations, regulatory compliance, and equipment assessments, as well as training community culinary resources as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in a food service environment.
  • Completion of food safety training is required.
  • Must reside in the DFW area.
  • Willingness to travel up to 90% is essential.
