Environmental Health Educator

Franklin County Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health Educator to join our team. As a key member of our public health team, you will play a critical role in promoting and maintaining individual and community environmental health.
Job Summary:The Environmental Health Educator will contribute to the overall improvement in the health and wellness of Central Ohioans by assisting individuals and communities in adopting healthy behaviors. This role will serve as a resource to individuals, other professionals, internal programs, and the community in identifying and training on health education programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate individual and group meetings and collaborations with health specialists, stakeholders, and community groups to determine community health needs, the availability of services, and the development of goals.
- Draft operational plans and policies necessary to achieve health education objectives and services. Align and coordinate health education materials, and resources with community health needs assessments and other public health surveys.
- Provide guidance to agencies and organizations in the assessment of health education needs, and in the development and delivery of health education programs. Collaborate with local and state agencies or organizations to educate and engage in initiatives promote equity, reduce health disparities and address social determinants of health in support of the agency's environmental health improvement and strategic plan.
- Identify educational evidence-based strategies using a policy, systems and environmental health approach, develops tools and resources, and provides technical assistance and actively participates on various health education/promotion committees.
- Work internally to increase consistency and outreach in the community.
- Collaborate with EH programs to develop and increase EH education and awareness.
- Support environmental health funding by identifying and preparing grant opportunities that support the environmental health work and programs of the agency.
- Bachelor's degree in public health, health education, community planning, nutrition, science, or related field
- 1 year directly related experience.
- Ohio driver's license
- CHES preferred.
Franklin County Public Health offers a competitive salary range of $25.40/hour - $29.21/hour. This is a non-exempt position. We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, an employee assistance program, parental leave, and a flexible spending account.
