Position Overview

The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of first and second mortgage applications, collaborating closely with Loan Officers, Underwriters, and Closers from the initial application stage through to post-closing activities. This role involves analyzing, reviewing, and addressing underwriting conditions, resolving standard title issues, and preparing loan files for closure.

Core Responsibilities
  • Process and finalize first and second mortgage applications in alignment with secondary market and Credit Union standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, including regulatory changes and technological advancements.
  • Adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements within the Banking/Credit Union sector.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary.
  • Foster a positive work environment by communicating professionally with members, colleagues, management, partners, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with Loan Officers, Underwriters, Closers, and other team members to ensure seamless transactions, while also engaging with external parties such as vendors and service providers.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service by proactively communicating with all stakeholders to ensure efficient loan processing and a positive experience.
  • Oversee the thorough review and resolution of underwriting conditions, including income and asset documentation, collateral verification, and routine title issues such as vesting concerns and liens.
  • Submit mortgage loans through automated systems as required, ensuring compliance with original approval criteria.
  • Input and update data within loan origination systems, ensuring file integrity and timely generation of necessary documentation.
  • Order and review reports such as appraisals and title certifications, addressing any discrepancies with relevant parties.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in the mortgage industry is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of secondary market guidelines and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the mortgage process from origination to post-closing.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective decision-making and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint; familiarity with loan origination systems like Encompass is advantageous but not mandatory.
Work Environment and Requirements
  • Reliable internet connection suitable for video conferencing and screen sharing.
  • Smartphone with up-to-date operating system.
  • Ability to work for extended periods at a workstation and on a computer.
  • Effective communication with colleagues and clients via various digital platforms.
