Job Description:

Solventum is a leading company in the healthcare industry, and we are seeking a highly skilled Principal Toxicology Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in toxicology and experience in supporting product development teams with toxicology guidance and material selection. They will be responsible for preparing biocompatibility evaluations, hazard assessments, and product risk assessments of medical devices and other products globally.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Chemical, or Biological Sciences, and at least seven years of experience in a private, public, government, or military environment. Alternatively, they may have a High School Diploma/GED and fourteen years of experience in the same field.

Additional qualifications that could be beneficial include a Master's degree in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Chemical, or Biological Sciences, a Ph.D. in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Chemical, or Biological Sciences, or professional certification as a Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) or equivalent.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting product development teams with toxicology guidance and material selection
  • Preparing biocompatibility evaluations, hazard assessments, and product risk assessments of medical devices and other products globally
  • Determining appropriate strategies for assessment of complex medical devices or products and design test methods to evaluate the safety of new materials
  • Communicating toxicity testing and risk assessment results internally and externally through oral presentations, written reports, and publications
  • Providing technical guidance to other staff groups involved with regulatory and hazard communication issues for assigned divisions
  • Maintaining a strong operational knowledge of industry technologies, products, customers, and customers' needs
